Wedding Day Checklist: How to Prepare for the Big Day

There is no day that compares to your wedding day! It’s a day you will remember for the rest of your life; making a commitment to the love of your life in front of family and friends, and then celebrating your marriage afterwards. Planning your wedding can be stressful unless you are prepared for the big day. There are a few things you need to do to be ready for your wedding day, so you can enjoy it without the stress of wondering if everything is in place.

The first step should be to decide on a rough wedding date, and then go about finding a beautiful wedding venue in The Colony. Cascades at the Colony features a beautiful Tuscan style wedding chapel, Ana Villa, which provides a picturesque spot for you and your beloved to say your vows.  The chapel has space for up to 275 guests, so all of your family and friends can attend.

Once your wedding venue is booked, it’s time to start planning your wedding reception in The Colony. With three Marriott hotels on the property, Cascades at the Colony offers ample room to party and for guests to stay! Dining and entertaining options also right within the development, helping your guests love their stay.

Once your wedding venue and reception areas are in place, it’s time to start hiring those people who will help make your big day a success. This involves the officiant, which may be someone you know and have already established a relationship. This is also the time to research and hire a photographer, a band or DJ, a florist, and a caterer. These professionals will help everything run smoothly, using their expertise and skills to help make your special day exactly how you hope it will be.

Next, it’s time to figure out what you will wear for the wedding! For the bride, this means wedding dress shopping. Dress shopping can take some time to find the perfect dress, so don’t save this one for the last minute! For grooms, look into tuxedo rental, or perhaps suits, depending on your taste. Once again, the earlier this gets done, the better, as you don’t want to be worry about what you will wear for your wedding.

Around this time, you should also be narrowing down your guest list and sending out save the dates and invites. If you have not already done so, decide on your wedding party and be sure to ask those who you wish to be part of your special day. You’ll want to know how many guests will be attending to plan things such as catering and the bar.

In the few weeks leading up to the ceremony, you simply want to make sure that everything is in place. This means items such as meeting with the vendors to go over any final details, going over the ceremony and order of events, getting your marriage license, writing vows, and even packing for your honeymoon. The more things that are completely in place, the more stress-free your wedding day will be, as you will know everything is ready to go!
